What does ‘Retrieve current sprint’ do when I commit my change?

Hi, All One of my training attendees asked an interesting question; What does ‘Retrieve current sprint’ do when I commit my change? He thought it was strange why it tried to retrieve sprint information instead of change after the last repository synchronisation. Do you have any idea about this? Thank you in advance.
