Apps created in Mendix Studio are responsive web apps, these can be viewed directly in your laptop or mobile browser via the app url. No need for an app.
You can Publish the app in Studio using the Publish button in the top bar. After publishing you can open/view the app in your browser. This url can then be opened on other devices too.
if you’d like to build an app that is downloadable from the mobile app stores then you have to create a Native mobile app in Studio Pro. You later on publish it the Apple App store or Google Play. See also:
Thanks for the feedback. Still, I do have a conceptual problem here which I do not understand.
1/ I’m working on Mendix Studio pro (local on my PC!) and I do not have any url I can refer to (???). Besides the “Run” button is greyed-out and cannot be used
2/ app in Studio (web): well, I do not know where I could find the unique URL of my app (?). When I edit my project, there is of course a URL displayed (VERY LONG) but this is all I can see
Sorry, but I’m a business consultant (not an IT guy), and I’m still lost.
Great to see that you started using Mendix as business person!
The URL can be retrieved via the ‘View app’ button from Studio Publish dialog:
I hope this helps.
I appreciate your taking time to answer me.
But still ;-) I’m mainly using Studio Pro on my PC (I feel a lot more comfortable with the Studio Pro version – at leat I can work offline). So here I’m stuck and I’m only able to run and test my app locally (run is greyed-out) and the only URL I can see is my local host (...8080). No clue how to publish it and make it available on the web (it’s a free app as I’m testing Mendix with a free version).
