Currently scheduled events are not so flexible. My assumption is that these scheduled events are in reality cron jobs. In the linux world systemd is taking on steam and available in almost every linux distro. The timers of systemd seems much more flexible to me with realtime timers, only run when booting etc. I would like to know if the current scheduled events jobs could benefit from changing from cron to systemd.
